Attempt at traditional-style art

I’ve made the decision…to attempt drawing some manga using traditional ink pens to see if it suits me better. I’ll be sure to upload whatever results I have, when I manage to get one of these pens:

Well. I hope all goes well! I have to go to homework, draw a little and then practice some guitar (my brother needs me to learn all these songs because his friend dropped out of a gig…my only incentive is the $100 that awaits me). *EDIT: (It seems that the $100 can’t justify the effort I have to put in. No longer doing it Still need money though…)

Kiseki magazine Issue 1 *UPDATE*

I just got it in the mail today. I will read it soon and post my comments on it.

For those of you who don’t know what it is: http://www.kisekimanga.com/ A new Australian serial magazine. One of my goals is to be published in it…but I’m sure that thousands share that dream. I’m gonna have to draw more to get my ‘skillz’ up! No seriously…I would really love to have an awesome graphic novel/manga published.

Well…now I have read the first two mangas in it. The first one, Just in Time, lets just say…isn’t really my style, mainly because it seems to be vectored, instead of hand drawn. On the other hand, QBee seems to be drawn traditionally with ink and has taken the ‘sketchy/gritty’ art style…I personally like it more than JIT, but I can’t judge something too much based on one chapter. Hopefully the art style ends up suiting the story.

I have also read a bit of Hokori on the artist’s website…and IMO, it is the best looking one so far. Issue 2 shouldn’t be too far away.

Well, I’m off to finish toning Page 1 of my untitled webcomic, and hopefully start the next page.
